Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection
A fuel system pressure test is part of several of the diagnostic charts and symptom checks. To perform this test, follow this procedure:1. Turn engine "OFF" and relieve fuel pressure following above procedure.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable.
3. Install fuel pressure gage (S 29658) on outlet side of fuel filter.
4. Tighten gage in line to ensure no leaks occur during testing.
5. Connect negative battery terminal.
6. Start engine and observe fuel pressure reading. It should be 62 to 90 kPa (9 to 13 psi). If not, refer to Computers and Control Systems / System Diagnosis / Chart A-6. Testing and Inspection
7. Disconnect negative battery cable.
8. Remove fuel pressure gage.
9. Install new O-ring on fuel feed line.
10. Reinstall fuel line.
11. Reconnect negative battery terminal.
12. Start engine and check for fuel leaks.
