DTC 45 EGR Vent Error:

EGR Circuit Error:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) recognizes the operating range for no Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), the PCM energizes the EGR vent solenoid which allows rapid venting of EGR vacuum. This solenoid is normally open.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 45 WILL SET WHEN
Ignition voltage on CKT 971 when PCM is requesting EGR vent "ON."
OR
No ignition voltage on CKT 971 when PCM is requesting EGR vent "OFF."

ACTION TAKEN (PCM will default to)
The PCM will shut "OFF" EGR system.

DTC 45 WILL CLEAR WHEN
The fault condition(s) no longer exist, and the ignition switch is cycled "OFF" then "ON."

DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This step will determine if DTC 45 is the result of a hard failure or an intermittent condition.
2. This step checks the PCM and wiring.
3. This step checks power and control circuit.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
DTC 45 will set if CKT 971 or 539 is open.
