Transfer Case Shift Control Switch Assembly

ELECTRIC SHIFT: This switch assembly is used to indicate the position of the transfer case shift control switch. When four wheel drive (4WD) low is selected a momentary signal is sent to the transfer case control module indicating the selection. If shift conditions are met, the transfer case control module will command the electric shift motor to engage 4WD low and will also change the 4WD low input signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) from B+ to zero voltage.

The 4WD low switch signal input is used to correct the transmission output speed signal from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) buffer module to the PCM, to compensate for the transfer case gear reduction. This 4WD Low Switch is part of the transfer case shift control switch assembly and is located on the instrument panel.
