Mainshaft Extension and Rear Retainer Housing

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT





1. Rear extension housing bolts and rear extension.





2. Rear bearing retainer snap ring from the mainshaft.
3. Rear retainer housing bolts.
- Rear retainer bolts are shouldered.





4. Rear retainer housing from the rear case half.





5. Vehicle speed sensor rotor snap ring from the mainshaft.





6. Vehicle speed sensor rotor from the mainshaft.





7. Rear vehicle speed sensor rotor snap ring from the mainshaft.
8. Case bolts from case halves.
- Note two longer case bolts and washers go into the doweled case holes.





9. Rear case half and oil pump as an assembly from the front case.
- Separate the case halves by inserting two screwdrivers into the slots cast into the case ends and pry apart.
- Do not attempt to wedge the case halves apart at any point on the mating surfaces. Damage to the case may result.
- Be careful not to damage the oil pump (located in the rear case half) while removing the rear case half.
