Oil Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the oil pan.





2. Remove the oil pump to crankshaft main bearing cap bolt.





3. Remove the oil pump.
4. Inspect the oil pump pickup tube for looseness.
5. If the tube is loose in the oil pump body, replace it. A loose pickup tube can result in an air leak and loss of oil pressure.

INSTALLATION
1. Align the slot in the oil pump shaft with the tang on the distributor shaft.
2. Slide the oil pump into place. No gasket is used.
3. Install the oil pump to crankshaft main bearing cap bolt.
^ Tighten the oil pump to crankshaft main bearing cap bolt to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the oil pan.
