DESCRIPTION
The Vehicle Control Module (VCM-A) is an electronic device which monitors inputs to control various transmission functions including shift quality and transmission diagnostics. The VCM-A receives input information from sensors, switches, and components to process for use within its' control program. Based on this input information, the VCM-A controls various transmission output functions and devices. The VCM-A is located within the engine compartment, on the right front wheelhouse.
INPUT INFORMATION
The VCM-A uses the following information sensors to gather data for electronically controlling transmission functions:
- Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) sensor.
- Transmission Range (TR) pressure switch assembly.
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
- Throttle Position (TP) sensor.
- Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).
- Brake switch.
OUTPUT INFORMATION
Based on input information, the VCM-A controls various transmission output functions and devices.
- 1-2 shift solenoid.
- 2-3 shift solenoid.
- 3-2 control solenoid.
- Pressure Control Solenoid (PCS).
- Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid.
- TCC Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) solenoid.
DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC)
This connector is a multiple cavity connector. The DLC provides the technician a means of accessing serial data for aid in diagnosis. The DLC allows the technician to use a scan tool to monitor various Systems and display DTC codes. The DLC connector is located within the driver's compartment, normally on the left side near the steering column
