Intake Manifold Torque and Sequence

Fig. 1 Intake Manifold Bolt Tightening Sequence:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air intake duct.
3. Drain coolant and disconnect all attaching vacuum lines and wires.
4. Disconnect throttle linkage, then remove MAP sensor and EGR solenoid valve.
5. Remove power steering pump and position aside.
6. Remove upper intake manifold assembly, EGR valve injector, fuel injector retainer bracket, regular injectors and fuel lines.
7. Disconnect accelerator and TV cables, then remove cable bracket.
8. Raise and support vehicle.
9. Remove intake manifold lower nuts, then lower vehicle.
10. Remove intake manifold upper nuts.
11. Remove lower intake manifold and gasket.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Torque intake manifold bolts in sequence, Fig. 1, to 22 ft. lbs.
