Rear Window Release

Voltage to the Rear Window Release System is applied through the HORN/DM Fuse (FUSE 2) and the ORN (240) wire to either the Rear Window Release Switch (inside the vehicle) or the Endgate Lock Switch (outside the vehicle) and the Door Lock Switch, LH. When the Rear Window Release Switch is pressed, voltage is applied through the closed contacts of the Switch, the RED (142) wire and the BLK/WHT (56) wire to the Rear Window Release Solenoid. If the Endgate Lock Switch is pressed and the Door Lock Switch, LH is closed (LH Front Door unlocked), then voltage is applied through the closed contacts of the Endgate Lock Switch, Door Lock Switch, LH and the BLK/WHT (56) wire to the Rear Window Release Solenoid. If the vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry, then the rear window can be released by pressing the rear window release button on the transmitter. Pressing the button on the transmitter activates the Keyless Entry Module and voltage is applied through the BLK/WHT (56) wire to the Rear Window Release Solenoid. Ground is supplied to the Rear Window Release Solenoid when the Parking Brake is engaged (Manual Transmission) or if the transmission is in the PARK "P" or NEUTRAL "N" positions (Automatic Transmission). If the above conditions are met, then ground is supplied from chassis ground through the closed contacts of the Park Brake Warning Switch, the TAN/WHT (33) wire and the ORN/BLK (434) wire to the Rear Window Release Solenoid (Manual Transmission) or the from grounds G102 and G104 through the BLK (150) wire, the closed contacts of the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch and the ORN/BLK (434) wire to the Rear Window Release Solenoid.

The rear window can be released from inside the vehicle by pressing the Rear Window Release Switch located on the I/P. Outside the vehicle, the rear window can be released without a key by pressing the Endgate Lock Switch only if the Door Lock Switch, LH is in the closed position (LH Front Door unlocked). If the doors are locked, insert the key and turn to the left. This will unlock the doors and allow the rear window to be opened. If the vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry, then the transmitter has a button on it to release the rear window. The rear window release will not work electronically unless the ground conditions have been satisfied (as explained in the paragraph above).
