Multifunction Turn Signal/Hazard Switch Replacement
MULTIFUNCTION TURN SIGNAL HAZARD SWITCH REPLACEMENTREMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Make sure the lever is in the center or "OFF" position.
2. Negative battery cable.
CAUTION: This vehicle is equipped with Supplemental inflatable Restraint (SIR).
3. Disable (SIR). Refer to "Disabling the SIR System."
4. Horn plunger contact.
5. Steering wheel nut.
6. Steering wheel using J 1859-03. Refer to "Steering Wheel Replacement."
7. Two pan head tapping screws from lower column cover.
^ Tilt cover down and slide back to disengage locking tabs.
6. Lower column cover.
9. Two torx head screws from upper column cover.
10. Upper column cover.
11. Wire harness strap.
12. Two wire harness straps from steering column wire harness.
13. Steering column bulkhead connector from vehicle wire harness.
14. Gray and black connectors of switch from column bulkhead connector.
15. Two pan head tapping screws.
16. Multifunction turn signal/hazard switch assembly.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Multifunction turn signal/hazard switch assembly.
^ Use small blade screwdriver to compress electrical contact and move multi-function switch into position.
^ Electrical contact must rest on canceling cam assembly.
2. Two pan head tapping screws.
TIGHTEN
^ Screws to 6 Nm (53 lbs. in.)
3. Gray and black connectors of switch to column bulkhead connector.
4. Steering column bulkhead connector to vehicle wire harness.
5. Two wire harness straps to steering column wire harness.
6. Wire harness strap.
7. Upper column cover.
8. Two torx head screws to upper column cover.
9. Lower column cover.
10. Two pan head tapping screws to lower column cover.
11. Make sure the lever is in the center or "Off" position.
12. Steering wheel onto the steering shaft. Refer to "Steering Wheel Replacement."
13. Steering wheel nut.
TIGHTEN
^ Nut to 41 Nm (30 lbs. ft.).
^ Upper column cover 1.4 Nm (12 lbs. in.)
^ Lower column cover 6 Nm (53 lbs. in.)
14. Horn plunger contact.
15. Activate (SIR). Refer to Service Precautions "Supplemental Inflatable Restraint."
16. Negative battery cable.
