CONTROLLED IDLE SPEED CHECK
There should be no trouble codes displayed, Idle Air Control (IAC) system has been checked, and ignition timing correct.
1. Set parking brake and block drive wheels.
2. Connect a Tech I scan tool to the Diagnostic Link Connector(DLC) with tool in Open Mode.
3. Start engine and bring it to normal operating temperature.
4. Check for correct state of PRNDL position (gear selector) on Tech I scan tool (R-D-L) in gear.
5. Check specifications above for "Controlled Idle Speed" and "Idle Air Control Valve, Pintle Position (counts)."
6. If within specifications, the idle speed is being correctly controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
5. If not within specifications, refer to Procedures / Diagnostic Charts / C-Charts / Idle Air Control (IAC) System Check. Testing and Inspection
