Service Procedure
1. With the key in the On position, move the transmission shift lever to engage each transmission detent position (P, R, N, O/D, D, 2, 1).- If one or more transmission detent positions cannot be obtained (no shift indicator light) proceed to Shift Cable Adjustment Procedure below.
2. Place the transmission lever in Park, turn the key to the lock position and raise the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Verify that the lock button is in the locked position as shown in Figure 1.
4. Install the clip to cover the lock button as shown in Figure 2.
- There may be adhesive on the adjuster body as shown in Figure 3. If the adhesive interferes with clip installation, remove the adhesive with a knife or sharp tool.
5. Lower the vehicle and install the Campaign Identification Label.
Shift Cable Adjustment Procedure
This procedure is to be used ONLY if one or more transmission detent positions cannot be obtained (no shift indicator light).
1. Place the steering column transmission shift lever into Park position.
2. Turn the ignition key to off, remove the key and raise the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Unlock the lock button as shown in Figure 4.
- DO NOT REMOVE the lock button or adjuster body.
4. Rotate the lever assembly on the side of the transmission fully forward into Park position as shown in Figure 5.
5. Press the lock button to the looked position as shown in Figure 1.
- Clean the adjuster body as necessary.
6. Install the clip as shown in Figure 2.
- There may be adhesive on the adjuster body as shown in Figure 3. If the adhesive interferes with clip installation, remove the adhesive with a knife or sharp tool.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. With the key in the On position, move the shift lever to engage each transmission detent position (P, R, N, O/D, D, 2, 1) and verify the proper shift indicator light comes on for each position.
9. Install the Campaign Identification Label.
