File In Section: 10 - Body

Bulletin No.: 66-20-02

Date: August, 1996

Subject:
Lower Corner(s) of Grill Not Aligned with Fender
(Install Locating Screw)

Models:
1996 GMC C/K Models with Up Level Grill

Condition

Some owners may comment that the lower corner(s) of the grill protrude outboard of the fender.

Correction

Secure the lower comers of the grill using the following steps.

1. Raise the hood and remove the four screws holding the parking lamp housing.

2. Disconnect the two lamp sockets in the parking lamp housing and loosen the screw that attaches the grill to the radiator support. This will allow the comer of the grill to be moved into proper alignment with the fender.

Figure 1:

3. Working from under the front bumper, hold the lower corner of the grill in alignment to the fender and drill a 1/8 inch (0.125 inch) diameter hole through the vertical cavity in the bumper filler panel in line with the center of the side marker lens (Figure 1). Continue drilling through the bottom flange of the grill.

4. Through the park lamp cavity in the grill, drive screw, P/N 11515303, through the bottom flange of the grill and into the bumper filler panel.

5. Reattach parts removed in steps 1 and 2.
