Dome Lamp

Passenger and Cargo Vans are provided with three Dome Lamps which are located in the front, center, and rear of the vehicle. The Cutaway and Upfitter models are provided with a single Front Dome Lamp. Dome Reading Lamps, part of the dome lamp assembly, are provided with the TR9 Optional Lighting Package. The Dome Lamps including the optional Dome Reading Lamps are powered at all times from CTSY Fuse 3 through the ORN (40) wire.

These lamps are operated by completing the ground circuit. The Dome lamps are grounded by the Dome Switch (part of the I/P Dimmer Switch) through the WHT (156) wire. They can also be grounded by either the Illuminated Entry Module or the optional Remote Control Door Lock Receiver. Lamp operation by the Illuminated Entry or the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver is described later under the appropriate header.

When the I/P Dimmer Switch's dial is in the Dome Switch detent position, contacts close to connect the WHT (156) wire to the BLK (150) wire for grounding at Ground G201. This provides a ground path for the lamps and they are lighted until all of the doors are closed or the DOME LAMP OFF Switch is depressed.

When provided, a Dome Reading Lamp bulb is installed on either side of each dome light. The Dome Reading Lamp bulbs are operated by local push-button switches. Depressing the push-button switch once connects the associated Dome Reading Lamp bulb to a local mechanical ground and the bulb lights. Depressing the switch again opens the ground connection.
