Circuit Operation

Voltage to the Endgate Window Release System is applied through CTSY Fuse 2 and the ORN (40 or 240) wire to either the Endgate Window Release Switch (inside the vehicle) or the Endgate Lock Switch (outside the vehicle) and the Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Switch (Part of the LH Front Side Door Lock Actuator). When the Endgate Window Release Switch is pressed, voltage is applied through the closed contacts of the switch and the BLK/WHT (56) wire to the Endgate Window Release Actuator. If the Endgate Lock Switch is pressed and the Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Switch is closed (LH Front Door unlocked), then voltage is applied through the closed contacts of the Endgate Lock Switch, Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Switch and the BLK/WHT (56) wire to the Endgate Window Release Actuator. If the vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry, then the Endgate Window can be released by pressing the Endgate Window release button on the transmitter. Pressing the button on the transmitter activates the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver and voltage is applied through the BLK/WHT (56) wire to the Endgate Window Release Actuator. Ground is supplied to the Endgate Window Release Actuator when the Parking Brake is engaged (Manual Transmission) or if the transmission is in the Park (P) or Neutral (N) positions (Automatic Transmission). If the above conditions are met, then ground is supplied from chassis ground through the closed contacts of the Park Brake Warning Switch, the LT BLU (1134) wire and the ORN/BLK (434) wire to the Endgate Window Release Actuator (Manual Transmission) or the from grounds G102 and G104 through the BLK (150) wire, the closed contacts of the Park/Neutral Position And Backup Lamp Switch and the ORN/BLK (434) wire to the Endgate Window Release Actuator.

The Endgate Window can be released from inside the vehicle by pressing the Endgate Window Release Switch located on the lip. Outside the vehicle, the Endgate Window can be released without a key by pressing the Endgate Lock Switch only if the Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Switch is in the closed position (LH Front Door unlocked). If the doors are locked, insert the key and turn to the left. This will unlock the doors and allow the Endgate Window to be opened. If the vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry, then the transmitter has a button on it to release the Endgate Window. The Endgate Window release will not work electronically unless the ground conditions have been satisfied (as explained in the paragraph above).
