Transfer Case Replacement

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
- Raise the vehicle and suitably support it.
2. Transfer case shield.
- Drain the oil from the transfer case.
3. Front and rear propeller shafts.
4. Vacuum lines and electrical connections (if equipped).





5. Transfer case shift cable at the transfer case.








6. Support brace to the transfer case bolts.








7. Transfer case to transmission bolts.
- Support the transfer case with a suitable jack.
- Slide the transfer case off the transmission output shaft.
- Lower the transfer case.
8. Shift control cable bracket.
9. Transfer case.
10. Gasket.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New gasket to the transmission.
- Use gasket sealer to hold it in place.
2. Transfer case to the vehicle.
3. Shift control cable bracket.
4. Transfer case to transmission bolts.
- Tighten bolts to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
- Remove the jack from the transfer case.








5. Support brace to transfer case bolts.
- Tighten Support brace bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
6. Shift cable to the transfer case lever.
7. Vacuum lines and electrical connections (if equipped).
8. Front and rear propeller shafts.
9. Transfer case shield (if equipped).
10. Fill the transfer case with proper lubricant.
- Lower the vehicle.
11. Negative battery cable.
