Transmission Range

The Transmission Range Indicator indicates the gear selection for Automatic Transmissions. The Transmission Range Indicator receives coded input through four wires from the Transmission Range Selector (part of the Park/Neutral Position Switch). Depending upon which combination of the four wires to the Transmission Range Indicator are grounded, a gear selection indication light emitting diode (LED), e.g. Reverse (R), is illuminated. The indications are separate from the Transmission's inputs to the Vehicle Control Module.
