Transmission Oil Pump Body Assembly Assemble

- Tools Required:
- J 21368 Alignment Band
- J 38739 Oil Pump Seal Ring Installer
- J 36850 TRANSJEL (TM)
- Or Equivalent





1. Assemble the oil pump cover (206) and the oil pump body (203).





Important: The round end on the splash shield fits into the hole in the oil pump cover. The slotted hole in the splash shield fits under the bolt head.

2. Install the vent passage splash shield (239).
3. Install the remaining oil pump cover bolts (220). Tighten the bolts with your fingers.





4. Install an oil pump to case bolt (3) into the oil pump bolt hole.

Important: The outside diameter of the oil pump body and oil pump cover must be properly aligned and then the alignment band can be tightened. This ensures that the oil pump will fit into the transmission case opening and maintains maximum oil pump efficiency.

5. Install J 21368 onto the transmission oil pump assembly and tighten.
6. Tighten the five oil pump cover bolts (220). 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Remove the J 21368 and the pump to case bolt (3).





Important: Coat the oil pump O-ring seal with J 36850 or equivalent. This will ease assembly and prevent damage to the seal.

8. Install the transmission oil pump O-ring seal (5).





9. Set the J 38739 Installer to position #1.
10. Install the J 38739 Installer on the oil pump hub.
11. Place a seal (219) onto the J 38739 Installer.
12. Push the seal into the seal groove with the J 38739 Pusher.
13. Remove the tools.





14. Place the small bevel end of the J 38739 Sizer over the seal (219).
15. Leave the J 38739 Sizer in place for at least one minute in order to allow the oil seal to return to the proper size.
16. Use J 36850 or equivalent in order to keep the seals in place.
17. Remove the J 38739 Sizer.





18. Set the J 38739 Installer to position #2.
19. Install the J 38739 Installer on the oil pump hub.
20. Place a seal (219) onto the J 38739 Installer.
21. Push the seal (219) into the seal groove with the J 38739 Pusher.
22. Remove the tools.





23. Place the large bevel end of the J 38739 Sizer over the seal (219).
24. Leave the J 38739 Sizer in place for at least one minute in order to allow the oil seal to return to the proper size.
25. Use J 36850 or equivalent in order to keep the seals in place.
26. Remove the J 33739 Sizer.
