Overdrive Carrier Assembly Disassemble





1. Remove the overdrive roller clutch assembly (512).





2. Remove the retaining ring (521) from the overdrive carrier.

Important: Before removing the pinion gear pins, mark the overdrive carrier pinion gears and the overdrive carrier pinion gear pins location.

3. Remove the overdrive carrier pinion gear pin retainer (520).

Important: Keep all washers and bearings together with the overdrive carrier pinion gear and pin. The pinion gears, washers, and bearings must be reinstalled in the original locations.





4. Remove one overdrive carrier pinion gear (518) and pin (519) at a time.
5. Inspect the overdrive pinion gear for wear or damage.





6. Remove the overrun clutch housing thrust bearing (513). The bearing will fall out when the pinion gears are removed.





7. Inspect the pinion pocket thrust surfaces for burrs.
8. Inspect the overdrive roller clutch assembly.
9. Inspect the overdrive carrier for cracks, damage, and wear.
10. Inspect the overrun clutch housing thrust bearing (513).
