Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair

Brake Pedal Pivot:






Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Disable SIR. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts.
3. Electrical connector from stoplamp switch.
4. Retainer.
5. Switch.
6. Pushrod.
7. Nut.
8. Bolt.
9. Bushings and spacer.
10. Brake pedal.

CAUTION: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. General Motors will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. General Motors will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. Unless otherwise specified, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.

Stoplamp Switch:






Install or Connect
1. Brake pedal.
2. Bushings and spacer.
3. Tighten Brake pedal bolt to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
4. Pushrod.
5. Switch.
6. Retainer.
7. Electrical connector to stoplamp switch.
8. Enable SIR. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts.
9. Negative battery cable.
