With Drum Parking Brake
Parking Brake Cable:
Tool Required:
^ Tension Scale No. J 35999, or equivalent
1. Remove clevis pin (3) from lever (2).
Parking Brake Adjustment Setting:
2. Set parking brake by pushing the pedal down 18°.
^ Insert a 3 mm (0.125 inch) pin into locating hole (A) in the pedal assembly. Push the pedal down until the pin contacts the parking brake outer flange.
Parking Brake Adjustment:
3. Install tension scale with a short cable or chain and a tightening device (like a turnbuckle) on the frame.
4. Install a small chain (1) on the lever (2) near the spring on the bottom of the lever.
5. Tighten the tightening device until the tension scale is at 222 Nm (50 ft. lbs.).
6. Loosen nut (5) and turn the clevis (4) until the pin (3) slides freely in the lever (2) with all slack removed from the cable.
7. Install clevis pin (3) and cotter pin.
^ Tighten Nut (5) to 37 Nm (27 lb. ft.).
8. Remove tension scale and all extensions used.
9. Release the parking brake.
10. Rotate the drum to make sure that there is no drag.
