Valve Rocker Arm Stud Remove and Install
REMOVAL
^ Tools Required
- J 5802-01 Valve Rocker Arm Stud Remover
1. Remove the valve rocker arm.
2. Remove the valve rocker arm stud using the following procedure:
a. Place the valve rocker arm stud remover over the valve rocker arm stud.
b. Install a nut and flat washer.
c. Turn the nut in order to remove the stud.
INSTALLATION
^ Tools Required
- J 6036 Reamer 0.0762 mm (0.003 inch) oversize
- J 6036 Reamer 0.3302 mm (0.013 inch) oversize
- J 6880 Valve Rocker Arm Stud Installer
CAUTION: Do not attempt to Install an oversize valve rocker arm stud without reaming the stud hole as this could damage the cylinder head.
1. Ream the hole to the proper size for the replacement oversize valve rocker arm stud. Use the reamer for 0.0762 mm (0.003 inch) oversize studs, or the reamer for 0.3302 mm (0.013 inch) oversize studs.
2. Coat the lower end (press fit area) of the valve rocker arm stud with hypoid axle lubricant.
3. Install the valve rocker arm stud. Use the valve rocker arm stud installer. The stud is installed to the proper depth when the tool bottoms on the cylinder head.
4. Install the valve rocker arm.
5. Adjust the valves.
6. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
