Ignition Lock System
The mechanical block is a wedge shaped finger added to the ignition switch actuator rod. The finger will pass through the bowl plate only when the shift lever is in (P) or (N). This prevents turning the ignition lock cylinder to the "Start" position when the transmission is in a drive range. When the shift lever is in either (P) or (N), the finger passes through the bowl plate notches, allowing the lock cylinder to turn to the "Start" position.
