Electrical Tests - Charging System

Before performing diagnostic procedures on the vehicle, make sure the system wiring is good and the generator belt is not slipping. Also, the battery must be fully charged for a valid test of the charging system.

To avoid damage to the vehicle's electrical system, observe the following precautions:
1. Do not attempt to "Hot Wire" the generator by probing or connecting wires to terminals in the four terminal connector on the generator. Touching or shorting the wrong terminals in this connector can damage the regulator.
2. Do not short across or ground any of the terminals in the charging circuit except as specifically instructed in these procedures.
3. NEVER disconnect the generator output ("BAT") terminal while the generator is operating. This can cause a voltage spike that will damage internal components of the generator and other electronic devices throughout the vehicle.
4. Do not reverse the polarity of the battery connections.
5. Do not disassemble the CS-130D generator. Disassembling the generator may damage internal parts and cause the generator to fail when returned to use.
