Inflator Module - Replacement

Remove or Disconnect
1. Disable SIR system. Refer to "Disabling the SIR System."

2. Rotate the steering wheel so that the side of the SIR module is at the 12 o'clock position.

3. Insert a screwdriver into one of the four holes on the back of the steering wheel.

4. Pull the screwdriver handle away from the steering column to release the leaf spring from the notched pin.
5. Repeat the steps mentioned above for the other three attached locations.

6. The electrical connector.

7. The inflatable restraint module from the steering wheel.

CAUTION: When carrying a live inflatable restraint steering wheel module, make sure the bag opening is pointed away from you. Never carry the inflatable restraint steering wheel module by the wires or electrical connector on the underside of it. In case of an accidental deployment, the bag will then deploy with minimal chance of Injury. When placing a live inflatable restraint steering wheel module on a bench or other surface, always face the bag and trim cover up, away from the surface. Never rest a steering column on the steering wheel with the inflatable restraint steering wheel module face down and steering column vertical. This is necessary so that a free space is provided to allow the air bag to expand in the unlikely event of accidental deployment.
