Parking Brake System: Adjustments

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION
The parking brake pedal must be free from corrosion and lubricated for correct operation. The parking brake pedal must return to the released position without sticking or binding. If a problem is present check the cable routing for binding or misadjusted parking brake cables. The parking brake cable tension is self adjusting. However, during normal brake lining wear, it is possible that the parking brake cable tension may need adjustment do to the increased lever travel. If adjustment is required, first check the following:

^ Rear brake shoe wear.

NOTE: Rear brake shoe thickness should not be more than (Approximately) 80 percent worn. If worn beyond this limit, replace the brake shoes. Service and Repair
