Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Tire and wheel.
3. Brake caliper.
4. Hub and rotor.
5. Wheel speed sensor wire electrical connector.
6. Bolt and washer at shock tower.
7. Snap-in clip on upper control arm (light duty models only).
8. Bolt and nut at ball joint.
9. Wheel speed sensor harness clip rivet.
^ Use a 3/16 inch drill bit to remove rivet.
10. Clips from the wheel speed sensor wire.
^ Save the clips for the replacement sensor.
11. Two wheel speed sensor mounting bolts.
12. Two splash shield mounting bolts.
13. Wheel speed sensor and splash shield assembly.
14. Splash shield gasket.
NOTE: Clean gasket and knuckle surfaces thoroughly with a dry cloth.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Splash shield gasket.
2. Wheel speed sensor and splash shield.
3. Two splash shield mounting bolts.
^ Tighten splash shield bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
4. Two wheel speed sensor mounting bolts.
^ Tighten wheel speed sensor mounting bolts to 26 Nm (23 ft. lbs.)
5. Wheel speed sensor harness clip 3/16 rivet.
6. Harness clips to the wheel speed sensor wire.
^ Locate the clip directly centered over the white paint mark on the wheel speed sensor wire.
7. Harness clip at ball joint.
^ Tighten nut to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
8. Harness snap-in clip at upper control arm (light duty only).
9. Harness clip at shock tower.
^ Tighten bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
10. Wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
11. Hub and rotor.
12. Brake caliper.
13. Install the tire and wheel.
