Steering Column Shift Lever Actuator

The steering column shift lever actuator system prevents the driver from shifting out of the (P) position without depressing the brake pedal. When energized, the actuator locks the shift control lever.

When the brake pedal is depressed, the actuator is de-energized and releases the shift control lever and the driver is able to shift into the gear that is selected. For electrical diagnosis, refer to Powertrain Management.
