Technician Safety Information
WARNING:Air Bag Hazard
This vehicle has a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the precautions could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
Asbestos Hazard
When servicing wheel brake parts, do not create dust by grinding or sanding brake linings or by cleaning wheel brake parts with a dry brush or compressed air. Many earlier model or after market brake parts may contain asbestos fibers which can become airborne if dust is created during servicing. Breathing dust containing asbestos fibers may cause serious bodily harm. A water dampened cloth should be used to remove any dust on brake parts. Equipment is commercially available to perform this washing function. These wet methods will prevent fibers from becoming airborne.
NOTE:
The items mentioned above do not cover every possibility, but must be followed when working on ABS. When doing service work, become familiar with ABS, and how it interrelates with other components on the vehicle.
