Compressor Replacement

A/C Compressor 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L):




A/C Compressor (7.4L):




A/C Compressor (6.5L):






Remove or Disconnect

1. The negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to "Recovering the Refrigerant".
3. The electrical connectors.
4. The engine cover.
5. The drive belt.
6. The oil filler tube.
7. The compressor and condenser hose assembly.
8. The compressor brace bolts and nuts.
9. The compressor brace.
10. The compressor bolts.
11. The compressor from the vehicle.
^ Drain and measure the compressor oil.

Install or Connect

1. The compressor to the vehicle. Refer to Capacities, if replacing the compressor.
2. The compressor bolts.
3. The compressor braces.
4. The compressor brace bolts.
5. The compressor and condenser hose assembly.
6. The oil filler tube.
7. The drive belt.
8. The engine cover.
9. The electrical connectors.
10. The negative battery cable.
11. Recharge the refrigerant to the system. Refer to "Recharging the Refrigerant".
^ Check the system for leaks.

Tighten

^ The compressor retaining bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb. ft).
^ The bolt at the compressor to 50 N.m (37 lb. ft).
^ The bolt at the generator bracket 25 N.m (18 lb. ft).
