Illuminated Entry

The Illuminated Entry Module is used on all vehicles which do not use Remote Keyless Entry. The Illuminated Entry Module provides for a delayed turn-off of the Dome and Stepwell lamps following the closure of the last open door. Following the closure of the doors, the module keeps the lights on until either the internal timer times out or the Ignition Switch is placed in START or RUN.

The Illuminated Entry Module receives operating voltage at all times from the POWER ACCY Circuit Breaker through the ORN (540) wire. The module is grounded at Ground G201 through the BLK (150) wire.

The module senses that a door is open by a grounded input on the GRY (157) wire. The grounded input is only sensed when the Dome Lamp Defeat push-button switch is not in the depressed position. The push-button latches in either the depressed or the retracted position. When the push-button is in the retracted or out position, contacts are closed to connect the PPL (328) wire from the Door Jamb Switches to the GRY (157) wire.

The PPL (328) wire from the Dome Lamp Defeat Switch connects to each of the vehicle's Door Jamb Switches. The Left Front Door Jamb Switch and the Right Front Door Jamb Switch are standard for all models. The Side Door Jamb Switch and the Rear Jamb Switch are not provided on the cutaway or upfitter models. When the associated door is open, the jamb switch contacts close to connect the PPL (328) wire to ground. The Left Front and Right Front Door Jamb Switches are grounded by BLK (150) wires to Ground g201 or Ground G200 (Upfitter Provisions). The Side Door Jamb Switch is grounded by the BLK (150) wire to Ground G402. The Rear Door Jamb Switch is grounded by the BLK (250) wire to Ground G401.

An open door condition causes the Illuminated Entry Module to close internal contact equivalents which connect the WHT (156) wire from the lamps to Ground G201. This action occurs immediately. When all doors are closed, the grounded GRY (157) wire input is lost. However, the module maintains the internal contacts closed for several seconds. If the Ignition Switch is placed in RUN or START while the lamps are on, the internal contacts immediately open to extinguish the lamps. The signal that the Ignition Switch is in RUN or START is sensed from GAUGES Fuse 4 through the PNK (39) wire.
