Self Test
The Antilock Brake System (ABS) performs two system self-tests automatically. The first self-test is performed when the ignition switch is turned to the Run position. Both the ABS ANTILOCK lamp and the BRAKE warning lamp will turn on for a few seconds, then they will turn off individually. If one of the lamps stays on, it could indicate that either the ABS or base brake system needs attention.
The second self-test is performed when the vehicle begins to move and the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) cycles the hydraulic portion of the ABS. A noise from the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) may be noticed when this function occurs.
