Some or All Transmitter Functions Are Inoperative
Perform the following check to diagnose all transmitter operations, using both transmitters (if available):1. Before attempting any other steps, resynchronize the transmitters to the receiver. Refer to "Resynchronization". If this does not correct the concern, continue the diagnosis.
2. Move the vehicle outside and as far away from metal objects as possible. The RKE system may not operate if there are metal objects between the transmitter and the vehicle.
3. Lower the windows, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, and close the doors.
4. Stand at the rear bumper, aim the top of the transmitter at the vehicle, and operate all functions on both transmitters (if available).
^ If a single function on one transmitter is inoperative, replace that transmitter.
^ If all functions on one or both transmitters are inoperative, reprogram both transmitters and repeat the diagnosis.
^ If one transmitter will not reprogram, replace the battery in that transmitter.
5. If all functions on both transmitters operate, stand 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the vehicle at several points around the vehicle and check the operation of both transmitters at each point.
^ If one transmitter does not operate at some points where the other transmitter does operate, replace the battery of the transmitter that does not operate.
^ If both transmitters operate 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the vehicle, the system is operating properly and no repairs should be attempted.
