Spring Assembly Replacement
REMOVE OR DISCONNECTRaise the vehicle on a hoist.
Support the rear axle to relieve the tension on the leaf springs.
1. Shock absorber
2. U-bolt nuts, washers, anchor plate, and U-bolts.
3. Spare tire if equipped.
4. Shackle from frame bolt, washers, and nut.
5. Fuel tank if necessary.
6. Front hanger nut, washers, and bolt.
7. Spring assembly from the vehicle.
8. Shackle to spring nut, washers, and spring bolt.
9. Shackle.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Shackle to the rear spring eye.
2. Shackle to spring bolt with washers and nut.
- Do not tighten.
3. Spring assembly to the vehicle.
4. Spring to front bracket bolt with washers, and nut.
- Do not tighten
5. Fuel tank if necessary.
6. Shackle to the frame bolt, washers, and nut.
- Do not tighten.
7. Remove the spring support.
8. Spare tire if equipped.
9. U-bolts, anchor plate, washers, and U-bolt nuts.
- Tighten U-bolt nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) using the sequence shown.
- Then U-bolt nuts to 100 Nm (73 ft. lbs.) using the sequence shown.
- Support the axle in such a way that there is a distance of 170 mm +/- 6 mm (6.7 inch +/- 0.24 inch) between the axle tube and the bumper bracket metal surface.
- Tighten the front hanger nut and the rear shackle nuts to 122 Nm (89 ft. lbs.).
