Camshaft, Lifters and Push Rods: Description and Operation

The valve train is a ball pivot type. Motion is transmitted from the camshaft through the hydraulic roller valve lifters and the tubular pushrods to the rocker arms.
^ The rocker arm pivots on a ball in order to open the valve.
^ The hydraulic valve lifters keep all the parts of the valve train in constant contact.
^ The rocker arm stud retains the rocker arm ball with a locking nut. The rocker arm stud is threaded into the cylinder head.
^ The rocker arm is positioned and retained on the rocker arm stud with a specific locking nut, lash is net build.
