Camshaft and Bearings Clean and Inspect

^ Tools Required
- J 7872 Magnetic Base Indicator Set, or equivalent


1. Measure the camshaft journals with a micrometer.
^ If journals are more than 0.025 mm (0.0010 inch) out-of-round, replace the camshaft.





2. Measure camshaft runout with the magnetic base indicator set.
a. Mount the camshaft in V-blocks between centers.
b .Use Reverse Input Clutch Front Bushing Installation in order to check the intermediate camshaft journal.
3. If runout exceeds 0.065 mm (0.0026 inch), camshaft is excessively bent and should be replaced.
