Normal Braking Mode
Normal Braking Mode:
FLUID FLOW
During normal braking, pressure is applied through the brake pedal. Fluid comes from the master cylinder, through the combination valve and into the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV). The fluid travels through the normally-open isolation valve, past the normally-closed dump valve and out into the brakes.
ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT
During normal braking, the pump is not turned on. The low pressure accumulators and attenuators are empty with only residual pressure stored in them.
ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE
Even though the Antilock Brake System (ABS) is passive during normal braking, the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) constantly monitors wheel sensor inputs for rapid deceleration. If the ABS becomes disabled for any reason, the driver will always have foundation brakes. The normally-open ISO valve and normally-closed dump valve will remain in these positions to allow normal fluid pressure to the wheels.
