Transfer Case Replacement






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Drain all of the oil from the transfer case.
4. Front and rear propeller shafts.
5. Breather hose.
6. Electrical connections.
- Support the transfer case with a jack.





7. Transfer case support brace.
8. Bolts securing the adapter to the transfer case.
9. Nuts and washers securing the transfer case to the transfer case support.
10. Transfer case from the vehicle using a jack.
11. Transfer case adapter gasket.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Ensure all gasket surfaces are clean and free of grease and oil.
2. Transfer case adapter gasket.
- Use a gasket sealer to secure the gasket to the transfer case.
3. Support the transfer case with a jack.
4. Transfer case to the adapter using a jack.
5. Bolts securing the transfer case to the adapter.
- Tighten transfer case to adapter bolts to 52 Nm (38 ft. lbs.).
6. Remove the jack from the transfer case.
7. Nuts and washers securing the transfer case to the transfer case support.
- Tighten transfer case support nuts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
8. Support brace, washers, and bolts to the transfer case and engine.
- Tighten:
^ Support brace to transfer case bolts to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
^ Support brace to engine bolts to 128 Nm (94 ft. lbs.).
9. Electrical connections.
10. Breather hose.
11. Front and rear propeller shafts.
12. Fill the transfer case to the proper oil level with transfer case oil.
13. Lower the vehicle.
14. Negative battery cable.
