Oil Pan Installation
IMPORTANT: The oil pan must be installed and the fasteners tightened while the sealant is still wet to the touch.
1. Apply sealant GM P/N 12345739 or the equivalent in two sealant points where rear crankshaft bearing cap meets the engine block (1).
2. Apply sealant GM P/N 12345739 or the equivalent in two sealant points where engine front cover meets the block.
3. Install the oil pan gasket onto the engine block.
4. Install the oil pan.
5. Loosely install the left side oil pan bolts.
6. Loosely install the right side oil pan bolts.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
7. Install the oil pan bolts.
Tighten the oil pan bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the oil pan drain plug.
Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
