Reaction Sun Gear and Shell Installation

- Tools Required
- J 34196-1 Reaction Sun Gear Bushing Remover/installer
- J 8092 Driver Handle





1. Inspect the reaction sun gear for the following defects:
- Nicks
- Scores
- Damaged spline or teeth
- A worn bushing
- A loose or weak retaining ring

IMPORTANT: Do not remove the retaining ring, except to replace it.





2. Remove the reaction sun bushing, if a bushing replacement is needed.





3. Install a reaction sun bushing.





4. Install the reaction sun gear into the reaction carrier.





5. Install the thrust washer.





6. Install the reaction sun shall into the reaction sun gear.
7. Install the reaction sun gear shell thrust washer into the reaction sun shell.
8. Index the tangs onto the thrust washer and into the reaction sun shell.
