Fourth Clutch Assembly Installation

IMPORTANT: Removal of the fourth clutch backing plate retainer ring, the fourth clutch backing plate, and the fourth clutch plates will ease assembly of the overrun clutch housing assembly.





1. Remove the fourth clutch backing plate retainer ring (523).
2. Remove the fourth clutch backing plate (524).
3. Remove the clutch plates (525, 526).
4. Install the fourth clutch assembly (529) into the transmission case.





5. Install a new fourth clutch housing bolt (26).
6. Rotate the transmission to the horizontal position.

IMPORTANT: Do not over torque the fourth clutch bolt.

7. Tighten the fourth clutch housing bolt.
- Tighten the bolt to 23 - 26 Nm (17 - 19 ft. lbs.).
