Revised DTC Tables for P0716 and P0717 (Section 7 Automatic Transmission)
Models:
1998-2000 Chevrolet and GMC C/K Models and G Van
with Hydra-Matic 4L80-E Automatic Transmission (RPO MT1)
This bulletin is being issued to revise the tables for DTC's P0716 and P0717 in the Automatic Transmission 4L80-E Section of the Service Manual. The new tables improve the diagnosis of a short to ground on circuit 1230. Make note of the changes in your Service Manual.
DTC P0716 Input Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent (1997 C/K Truck)
Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step tests for proper operation to the A/T ISS Sensor.
5. This step tests for proper A/T ISS circuit operation up to the VCM connections. Remove the fuel pump relay in order to eliminate a flooding condition during this step.
DTC P0717 Input Speed Sensor Circuit Low Input (1997 C/K Truck)
Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step tests for proper operation to the A/T ISS Sensor.
5. This step tests for proper A/T ISS circuit operation up to the VCM connections. Remove the fuel pump relay in order to eliminate a flooding condition during this step.
DTC P0716 Input Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent (1997 G Van)
Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step tests for proper operation to the A/T ISS Sensor.
5. This step tests for proper A/T ISS circuit operation up to the VCM connections. Remove the fuel pump relay in order to eliminate a flooding condition during this step.

5. This step tests for proper A/C ISS circuit operation up to the VCM connections. Remove the fuel pump relay in order to eliminate a flooding condition during this step.
