Without Scan Tool

The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) will clear many current diagnostic trouble codes and move them to a history file when:
^ The malfunction is no longer detected.
^ The ignition switch is cycled.

Replacement of the SDM is required to clear certain other SIR DTC's.

The proper way to clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) is to use the diagnostic scan tool "clear DTCs" or "clear info" function.

NOTE: When you issue a scan tool CLEAR CODES command, some of the indicated malfunctions will only allow the AIR BAG warning lamp to go out briefly then come back ON. When certain SIR codes are set, they become what is called a latched code. You cannot clear a latched code. Replace the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) after following the instructions in the diagnostic trouble code table.

When clearing DTCs follow instructions supplied by the tool manufacturer.
