Disc Brakes System Description (Rear Wheel)

The rear disc brake caliper has a single piston in an aluminum housing. The piston is suspended in the anchor bracket on two guide pins. Applying force to the brake pedal creates hydraulic pressure. The pressure acts equally against the piston and the bottom of the caliper bore, moving the piston outward and sliding the caliper inward. This action clamps the linings against the rotor, creating friction and stopping the vehicle.
