Low Fuel Telltale

The low fuel telltale is a LED display is that is located in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). The low fuel telltale is operated by the IPC with software control. The low fuel telltale will turn ON for 3 seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position. The VCM/PCM constantly sends Class 2 messages that inform the IPC of the fuel level when the ignition switch is in the RUN position. The IPC uses the Class 2 fuel level information in order to operate the fuel gauge. The information is also used in order to determine when the low fuel telltale should be turned ON.
