Oil Seal and/or Bearing Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 2619-01 Slide Hammer
- J 22813-01 Axle Bearing Puller





1. Remove the brake drum and the wheel.
2. Remove the axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement
3. Remove the seal. Use a seal removal tool behind the steel case of the seal. Do NOT damage the housing.
4. Remove the bearing. Use J 2619-01 and J 22813-01 as shown. The tangs of the tool should engage the bearing outer race.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 23765 Axle Shaft Bearing Installer
- J 23771 Axle Shaft Seal Installer





1. Install the brake drum and the wheel.
2. Install the bearing with J 23765 until the tool bottoms against the housing shoulder.
3. Lubricate the bearing with axle lubricant.





4. Install the seal, Use J 23771 until the seal is flush with the axle tube.
5. Lubricate the seal lips with axle lubricant.
6. Install the axle shaft.
