Alternator: Service and Repair




REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Remove the drive belt.
4. Disconnect the regulator electrical connector.
5. Remove the generator front mounting bolts.
6. Remove the generator rear mounting bolt.
7. Remove the generator BAT terminal nut.
8. Remove the generator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the generator on the vehicle.
2. Hand start the following generator mounting components:
^ The BAT terminal nut
^ The rear mounting bolt

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

^ The front mounting bolts

Tighten
- Tighten the BAT terminal nut to 20 N-m (15 lb ft).
- Tighten the rear mounting bolt to 25 N-m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the front mounting bolts to 50 N-m (37 lb ft).

3. Connect the regulator electrical connector.
4. Install the drive belt.
5. Install the air cleaner.
6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable. Service and Repair
