Front Suspension
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to WHEEL REMOVAL in TIRES AND WHEELS.
3. Remove the stabilizer link nuts.
4. Remove the stabilizer link bolts.
^ Pull the bolts down through the retainers, the insulators, and the link spacer.
^ These components will come free, along with the ends of the stabilizer shaft.
5. Remove the insulator clamp bolts.
6. Remove the insulator clamps.
7. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
8. Remove the insulators from the stabilizer shaft.
9. Inspect all of the parts for wear and damage.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the insulators on the stabilizer shaft. Position the slit on the insulator toward the front of the vehicle.
2. Install the stabilizer shaft and the clamps.
2.1. Mount the stabilizer shaft with the identification facing on the right side of the vehicle.
2.2. Install the offset in the stabilizer shaft in the downward position.
2.3. Position the insulators squarely in the clamps.
2.4. Install the insulator clamp bolts in the proper holes.
NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.
3. Install the following stabilizer link parts in position:
^ The retainers
^ The insulators
^ The link
^ The spacers
^ The bolts
^ The nuts
Tighten
^ Tighten the clamp bolts to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the link nut to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to WHEEL INSTALLATION in TIRES AND WHEELS.
5. Remove the safety stands.
6. Lower the vehicle.
