Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair
Remove or Disconnect1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR.
2. Steering Column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
- Do not disconnect the steering wheel, transmission control linkage, or the instrument panel wire harness from the steering column.
- Lower the steering column and support the steering column.
3. The Steering Handwheel Speed Sensor (HWSS) electrical connector.
4. The bearing and adapter assembly from the steering column jacket.
5. The bearing and adapter assembly from the steering shaft.
- Slide the bearing and adapter assembly through the cowl, into the engine compartment, and out of the vehicle.
6. The protective cover from the bearing and adapter assembly.
7. The Steering Handwheel Speed Sensor (HWSS) from the bearing and adapter assembly.
Install or Connect
1. The HWSS to the bearing and adapter assembly.
2. The protective cover to the bearing and adapter assembly.
3. The bearing and adapter assembly onto the steering shaft.
4. The bearing and adapter assembly into the steering column jacket.
5. The HWSS electrical connector.
6. The steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR.
