Side Front intermediate Door Does Not Stay Open
(Replace Door Check Strap)

Models:
1996-99 Chevrolet and GMC G-Van (Plant Code 1) Built Prior to March 30, 1999

Condition
Some owners may comment that the side front intermediate door does not stay open when exposed to a light wind1 or when weight is added to the door trim panels.

Cause
This condition may be caused from the intermediate door check strap not having adequate detent to the hook portion on the strap.

Correction
A new intermediate side door check strap has been developed to improve this condition. Replace the check strap on the affected vehicles. Use the part number listed below. Refer to the Doors subsection in the appropriate year Service Manual for the check strap replacement procedures.
