Muffler: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: On some models, the muffler services with an exhaust pipe, not separately but as a complete unit.





1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support the vehicle with safety stands.
2. Loosen the front clamps from the muffler, if applicable. Remove the retaining nuts from the front muffler flange, if applicable.
3. Loosen the rear clamp from the muffler, if applicable.
4. Remove the hangers from the exhaust system, as required.





5. Remove the muffler from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the muffler to the vehicle.





2. Install the hangers to the exhaust system, as required.
3. Tighten the rear clamp to the muffler, if applicable.
4. Tighten the front clamps to the muffler, if applicable. Install the new gasket and retaining nuts to the front muffler flange, if applicable. Tighten the nuts.
5. Remove the safety stands.
6. Lower the vehicle.
